Emter GmbH
At Emter GmbH, sewage sludge is converted into an phosphate fertiliser at the company’s sewage sludge incineration plant in Altenstadt, which fully complies with the requirements of the German Fertiliser Ordinance.
Emter has succeeded in directly processing the municipal sewage sludge it receives and subjecting it to a thermochemical decomposition process in the incineration plant. This produces a plant-available phosphate compound, which forms the basis of the Emter phosphate fertiliser.
Emter has researched and implemented the process in collaboration with, amongst others, the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM).
The phosphate fertiliser produced could possibly be used in organic farming.
