PHOSMAG Group

PHOSMAG Group is a global provider of environmental technology solutions for struvite and phosphorus recovery. The company relies on its patented MINEPHOS® crystallization process to convert various phosphorus-rich waste into high-value regenerated nutrient resources.

The MINEPHOS® process can selectively extract phosphorus from waste streams, producing clean, pollutant-free struvite while preventing pipeline scaling and equipment damage caused by spontaneous struvite crystallization within wastewater systems. This process can handle various raw materials, covering phosphorus gypsum leachate, municipal wastewater sludge, livestock and poultry manure, and various phosphorus-rich wastewater from biopharmaceuticals, food industries, and industrial applications. The process employs PHOSMAG's proprietary "MINEPHOS" reactor, coupled with intelligent process control, achieving a phosphorus recovery rate of over 90%. The entire modular solution has low operating costs, supports automated operations, and custom particle size. The group has applied for 57 patents worldwide and received authorization in regions such as the European Union, the United States, Canada, and Japan.

PHOSMAG's product PHOSTONE® is a high-quality slow-release recycled struvite fertilizer (MgNH4PO4 · 6H2O)containing 28% phosphorus pentoxide, 5% nitrogen, and 10% magnesium, with a purity of 93-96%. This product is slightly soluble in water and completely soluble in citrates, releasing nutrients on demand only in the presence of plant acids secreted by crop root systems; it has an extremely low salt index, between 1-7, eliminating the risk of root burn, significantly reducing nutrient loss and the risk of water body eutrophication, enabling long-term multiple-season fertilization, and helping to decrease the amount of fertilizer applied. Currently, PHOSTONE® has passed a third-party safety test by Singapore's SETSCO and is undergoing compliance assessment with the EU Fertilizers Regulation FPR (EU)2019/1009, aiming to obtain the CE mark for access to the EU market.

Phosphorus is a non-renewable resource. Nowadays, global extractable primary phosphorus ore resources are becoming increasingly scarce. PHOSMAG recovers phosphorus from waste, promotes nutrient circularity, reduces dependence on primary phosphorus ores, lowers greenhouse gas emissions in solid waste disposal, and alleviates water body eutrophication. This technology has been included in the United Nations Industrial Development Organization's WiiTs project database, offering global solutions for wastewater treatment and agricultural circular economy.

PHOSMAG Group joins the ESPP platform to collaborate with European and global industry partners in promoting the sustainable development of phosphorus resources, share practical experiences in the commercialization of phosphorus recovery from multiple waste sources, and contribute to the development of a mature international market for recycled phosphorus nutrients.
