INTEXT Hub

INTEXT is a 6 000 m2 cutting‑edge technological platform led by FCC Aqualia and located in Talavera de la Reina WWTP (c. 90 minutes from Madrid). Since 2022, INTEXT has served as a living laboratory, hosting more than 16 innovative hybrid technologies for wastewater treatment and resource recovery tailored to small communities (<2,000 PE). The platform integrates a wide range of advanced and nature‑based solutions, including Anaerobic pretreatment reactor, High-Rate Algae Ponds (HRAPs), Intensified Biofilm Systems, Constructed Wetlands, and Granular Aerobic Reactor, among others. Together, these processes demonstrate how the INTtensification of EXTensive treatment systems can deliver high performance with reduced footprint, energy demand, and operational complexity. Over the years, INTEXT has treated more than 50,000 m³ of real wastewater. The platform’s success has been further validated by its stable long‑term operation under real conditions, its role as a hub for other EU-funded projects (LIFE PHOENIX, H2020 NICE, LIFE SMALLWAT), and its contribution to advancing sustainable sanitation solutions for decentralized and rural contexts.

The visit will take place on the 10th June (morning). If you are interested in visiting, please contact: Frank Rogalla ; Zouhayr Arbib Ben Abdellah ; Damian Amador Cabezali ; Enrique Romero Frasca
