New ISP standard for sustainability criteria for bioenergy production (15/9/2015) recognises importance of nutrients and phosphorus:
- Key parameters and metrics to assess impacts (5.2.3.1.6): calculation per process output of emissions and flows, cited example: g phosphorus applied / kg biomass produced (Guidance C7)
- water quality indicator (5.2.2.1.1) inc. eutrophication, requiring specification of phosphorus removal level technology implemented (Guidance B5)
- soil quality and productivity (5.2.3.1): actions to avoid soil nutrient losses and ensure soil nutrient fertility, including monitoring soil nutrient changes, agricultural management practices
